Access to Military Records - From 1 April 2023 it will be free to apply for a military service record from the MOD who will conduct a search and if they find a record, you'll need to pay a fee.  If you apply before 1 April 2023 you need to pay £30.  When you apply online for a British Army or Home Guard record, the MOD will check if they hold it. If they have it, you’ll be sent a link to pay. If they do not, you’ll be told to check The National Archives.
